New Faculty Network (UCD-NFN)

The UC Davis New Faculty Network (NFN) began through a grassroots effort by UC Davis faculty.  Professor Magali Billen, as an assistant professor, initiated the UC Davis New Faculty Network (UCD-NFN), back in 2006, in order to provide new/newish faculty with a way to meet and connect with other faculty across campus.   Years later, the NFN continues to thrive and provide our faculty with wonderful opportunities to meet some new people/colleagues, learn more about what the area has to offer and learn more about northern California.  The UCD-NFN connects members through an email listserv in contact with other new/new-ish faculty.  Through this network, members of the UCD-NFN listserv can self-organize activities (e.g. happy hour gatherings, a day trip to San Francisco, hiking trips, etc.)

At the beginning of each academic year, the Office of the Vice Provost – Academic Affairs sponsors a gathering at a local restaurant in Davis for members of the UCD-NFN listserv and newly hired faculty.
