Academic Affairs serves as the central personnel office for all academic employees of UC Davis. Our office oversees the recruitment, appointment, advancement and retention of faculty and other academics, and also provides leadership in developing and implementing best practices that make all of these personnel processes more equitable and efficient. Academic Affairs is also responsible for helping to build a diverse faculty that better represents the population of California, and for fostering the campus Principles of Community that empower faculty members from all walks of life in their teaching, research and service activities.
Academic Affairs provides training and development for department chairs and other faculty leaders, introduces new faculty to campus practices and policies, assists with faculty recruitments and retentions, manages grievances and investigations involving academic personnel, manages sabbaticals and other academic leaves, tracks data on academic personnel actions and compensation, and facilitates awards for outstanding faculty achievement.
