ADVANCE was a National Science Foundation (NSF) program that aimed to increase the participation of women and underrepresented minorities in academic science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers. UC Davis received a five-year, $3.7 million grant from NSF to establish its own ADVANCE Program focused on increasing the representation of women, especially Latinas, in STEM. UC Davis ADVANCE aimed to improve the recruitment, retention, and career development of diverse STEM faculty through programs focused on creating an inclusive campus climate, enhancing mentorship and networking, and institutionalizing equitable policies and practices. This grant ended in 2018.
