Effective January 1, 2023, Academic Affairs is launching a new program to support academic appointees who are new or soon-to-be parents - the Academic Cooler Bag Program!

As part of our Academic Work Life Program, we now provide a complimentary bottle/cooler bag to all lactating/nursing academic appointees as a safe way to store and transport their breast milk. Studies indicate personal cooler bags are the best way to maintain the safety and quality of the milk.

If you are interested in obtaining a cooler bag, please email our Faculty Relations & Development team at vpaa_frd@ucdavis.edu. You may can pick up their complimentary cooler bag on the UC Davis campus at the Welcome Desk located in the first-floor lobby of Mrak Hall. Alternatively, we can deliver your cooler bag to your campus office. If coming to campus is not an option, Academic Affairs will arrange for the cooler bag to be delivered directly to their home address.

  • Where can I learn more about lactation support resources at UC Davis?
  • The UC Davis Human Resources WorkLife Program operates a robust Lactation Support Program. The Lactation Support Program (LSP) provides university affiliates (all undergraduate students, graduate students, professional students, medical residents & fellows, staff, faculty, and academic employees) and their partners with lactation consultations, support group meetings, and the use of hospital grade breastpumps located in nearly 50 lactation sites on the UC Davis campus and 20 at UC Davis Health.
  • Where are the lactation rooms located?
  • For a complete list of the lactation sites at the UC Davis and UC Davis Health campuses, please visit the Lactation Support Program Room Resource Page. This page provides a map of the lactation site locations as well as resources on room etiquette, using the breastpumps, and lactation education and support.
  • My partner is not a UC Davis academic appointee - am I still able to receive a cooler bag for them?
  • Right now, complimentary cooler bags are only available to UC Davis academic appointees. If your partner would like a cooler bag, please visit and register for the Lactation Support Program.
  • Am I eligible for the cooler bag program if I am a Postdoc employee?
  • The Academic Cooler Bag Program is not available to Postdoc employees. However, as a Postdoc employee, you are able to receive a complimentary cooler bag through the Lactation Support Program through the UC Davis Human Resources WorkLife Program.
